Hey guys I'm currently wanting to buy another edc for under 30 dollars to add to by rotation. ive narrowed it down to the cold steel pocket bushman and the rat model One. What do you think? Any other suggestions of similar pocket knives would be appreciated

Rat 1, pocket bushman has that weird lock that's been problematic.
Sorry, just realized that my post is basically saying the same thing as the previous post.

The pocket bushman is considerably larger than the RAT 1. In my opinion it's probably overkill as an EDC.

You can get a Spyderco Tenacious for $33 on that S. American River site.
I think it's a nicer blade than the Rat-1 for similar money.

Thanks Ill check out the tenacious. ive cancelled out the bushman now . Now its rat 1 or tenacious oh well decisions, decisions

I have the pocket Bushman. It has a very pointy point. The blade is long, with great geometry. It is thin, and has a super strong lock. The lock issue was resolved. The lock style is not as convenient as a frame/liner/back lock. The plunge spring is strong. It opens easily enough but may take you 2 hands to close. I can close it several ways without the second hand.

It really is a decent knife for the price, and I do occasionally edc mine, but not that often. In that price range, look at Opinel knives. You could get two for your budget. Different t sizes. As long as you don't mind sacrificing speed for lighter weight and better slicing!

I also had this issue with deciding which one to choose. The Tenacious or the RAT 1. I ended up getting both but if I could only keep one, it would be the RAT 1 hands down.

if it is for general EDC i suggest RAT 1, I have both, the Pocket Bushman is not that comfortable to use (opening and closing).

but my suggestion would be CS tuff lite I think it is priced about 30ish.
Opinel is another great suggestion too.

The Pocket Bushman is a much stronger and larger knife. The issues with the lock were dealt with years ago. I think which one you get should depend on your needs. Do you need a small, convenient light duty folder or a large, very strong heavy duty folder?

You can not buy more knife (in terms of F&F, built quality, materials and smothness of opening) for $27 than the RAT-1, even the sypderco tenacious isn't as good of a buy.

After a week of carrying my $400 folder, $200 one, and a $100 plus spydie- I tossed my Rat 1 in my pocket for a couple days and had to chuckle at my spending. It's just a great folder and does all I folder should do IMO.

pocket bushman and RAT-1 are both great knives for the $$.
pocket bushman is huge for front pocket EDC, overkill for most daily tasks unless your work involves a LOT of heavy cutting.
RAT-1 opens easy, is light, has plenty of blade length if you need a larger knife.
RAT-2 is the junior version
Kabar Dozier Folding Hunters are also really nice low cost, light weight, thin knives - back lock, not liner lock.

Both great buys. I'd rather EDC the Rat-1, but the Pocket Bushman is bombproof.
