So, what do we think of this knife here? I've watched a few vids. Read a few reviews. For the money (~$25 street/shipped), it seems like a good deal. Thinking about putting one in my car in the glove box. State laws do not allow fixed blade knives in "cabin" of car. Keeping it "inexpensive" in case of a car break-in.

Thanks!

LOL yeah I was hoping more folks would chime in, but it's a great knife. I'll be the first to say it's NOT FOR EVERYONE, but it's rugged without being overbuilt, a utilitarian shape, reliable, easy to touch up, inexpensive, and easy to safely operate even in inclement conditions providing you bother to learn how to do it properly. It's a humble knife, but it's a real trooper and I'm rarely without it. I've been carrying mine (first generation!) since they came out. It and an Opinel No.8 Carbon are my daily companions.

I have one but I would have to look for it, if that tells you anything.

In my opinion, it is too large for EDC and the handle is hard on your hand over prolonged hard usage. I bought it when I was first getting into knives and it was within my price range and got fairly good review and it gave me a another CS product to check out.

It is heavy duty and the lock is sturdy, to say the least. Buy it and try it! It's worth $25.

It is the easiest carrying big knife I have found . I like that is convertable to fit a lefty Mine rides in my back left pocket nearly all the time. It is simple, tough and holds an edge. A you tube review claiming It was a P.O.S. convinced me to buy one. Reviewer beat the crap out of it applied side torque that would have busted many hatchete handles finally broke it, declared it crap
I figure if it took that much effort for an idiot to break it, the knife would last some one with a little common sence a life time

I have one and like it:thumbup: but it doesn't get much carry due to its size.
At 5 3/4" folded up, I have fixed blades almost that size that I would rather carry.
It is a great price and holds it edge good. Tough? Yes. Would I make it my EDC? NO!
If I could only carry a folder, I would pick it for sure.
Batoning? It can but for how long I don't know.
Get it for sure:)

This video nearly made me buy one, one day maybe !

I've handled one, don't own one. I can say, I believe it would make a great knife, and I will eventually own it. I just bought other stuff at the time.

I don't like the steel, the size, the way it folds up. ......................

However, I bought one in 2009, and use it often. The dang ugly thing just plain works. :D

I'd like to know if there is any way you can tell the revised version from the old one without taking it to bits. Did they change the serial number on the box or anything. A store near me has them in but I'm unsure if they could be old stock or not ?

I have used and carried one for years.

Very thin design makes it carry flat in the pocket. It is a great design for a car knife. You can throw it in the glove box and forget about it till you need it. It has gone camping, fishing and canoing with me.

Very strong lock. The steel is basic, but works. Nice flat grind for slicing.

The original ones have a low flat thumb stud that's equal in height on both sides. The new ones have a taller asymmetric thumb stud (reversible for lefties) that's easier for most folks to actuate. The stamping of "Cold Steel / Taiwan" changed slightly too, IIRC but I can't recall off the top of my head how. :p

It's huge, ugly, and strong. Works well, I think it's best used as an outdoor knife with gloves on.

Admittedly interesting. But I usually end up tossing in a few more bucks, and get a Voyager with the tri-ad.

I'd probably feel more confident battoning wood with one of these than with a Mora !

I'm beginning to think the same thing. $10+ and I can get a 4" Voyager. The thinness of the Pocket Bushman is a plus and a negative. Negative being that it won't be comfortable long term.

I had one, liked it as a very utilitarian piece of kit -- traded it to someone who really wanted to try it out and had a knife I really wanted to try out...
it's a great knife for a car kit.
