CS pocket clips - needs a serious redesign to accomodate new business strategy

Now CS is moving up market with XHP and BD1 steel and I've bought a bunch of the newer steel knives. But one glaring problem still stands which I believe is an oversight when changing over from the older models. THE POCKET CLIP!

Given I've sanded down all my older AUS8 scales and bent out the pocket clips, they're been made functional but far from user friendly when compared to ALL other knife manufactures' pocket clips. Let's not talk about Kershaw, ZT, Spyderco, Benchmade, even Ontario and Sog have better pocket clips than Cold Steel.

Now I've purchased the new XHP models with the improved steel and tuned down scales, I was reminded how bad the pocket clips are. This is still a glaring Achilles Heel that plagues Cold Steel as it tries to re-position itself in the knife market. Given CS's Tri-Ad lock and XHP steel with a competitive pricing model, I believe CS is the new value leader, but the pocket clip is really holding these new knives back from a carry friendly perspective.

Mr. Thompson, if you're reading this, please take into consideration of redesigning CS pocket clips.

I agree, though. Great knives - just raise the lip so it'll go over a seam, please, and not quite so tight, but part of that is the excellent grip though. The designs of the clips are nice. I love the wee clip on my Hold Out 3 and the size and curves of the rest. Just please tweak the design, Cold Steel.

They need to adjust both the tip angle (to fit over fat pocket lips like on jeans) and the tension. I assume they are punched out and shaped in some kind of die, so I don't know how easy it would be to retool or adjust, but I'd sure love it if they could. I've become pretty adept at adjusting them myself, but it'd be nice to have them ready to go right OOTB.

In addition to what others have said above, I don't care for how they are curved either. Please just make a good straight clip.

The angle of the tip of the clip sucks too like others have said. Why put a left hand and right hand clip in the box when you could just make a good straight clip?

I've come across a few other clips I had to relieve a bit, such as my Emerson-Kershaw CQC-8K. Couldn't even force it over the seam of my jeans pocket when I got it. Took it off, bent it back a tad in a vise and it was good to go.

I have no issues with pocket clips. my issues are that ugly Teflon coating on the clip and tri-ad lock. Pathetic.

"NOTHING sticks to teflon." Therefore, Teflon sticks to nothing. Give it enough use and time, that ugly teflon coating WILL come off on its own.

I think an adaptation of Spyderco's wire clip would be perfect, cheap to manufacture and easy to fit on a variety of knife handle shapes.

PLEASE, NO WIRE CLIPS!!!

I hate those things wiggling around when you use the knife. That lateral movement makes it feel cheap and can mark up the handle, especially noticeable with metal handles.

I would be satisfied with a clip that you don't have to pry open to get on a pair of jeans.

Ah, maybe it is all a clever marketing ploy to build desire for a new line of Cold Steel tactical pants, with kevlar reinforced pocket corners.
