So last night I ordered a Rajah 2 from BHQ in the new super steel. This thread will be updated when I get the knife for the initial review. After a month of carry, I'll be back with a "range report" of sorts.

At one time last year, I EDC'd a pair set up for forward wave draw. My only complaint with the previous knives was the AUS8 corroded quite quickly... or maybe I'm just a sweaty f###?

A range report sounds good. I'm looking forward to seeing how the BD1 compares to AUS-8.

Spyderco uses the Carpenter CTS-BD1 in a few models. I have the Manix 2 Lightweight and it takes a smoother edge than Aus-8A. In otherwords, it doesn't feel as sharp.

The general consensus is that it has slightly better edge-holding and much better stain-resistance than Aus-8A.

It shouldn't be considered a super steel though.

I plan on getting another 4-inch Voyager Clip-Point because it is one of my favorite knives in CTS-BD1 hopefully later on this year when they become available.

It's the bead blast that rusts the aus version. My spartan rusted in one day.

I have a manix 2 in CTS-BD1 and you are correct. I find that CTS can provide a smoother edge, but it also seems to be less gummy than AUS-8. AUS-8 always grew a huge burr (which isn't bad, and can be useful in learning how to sharpen knives), but CTS-BD1 never did that to me.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see the blade is stonewashed. I just ordered a second for my left pocket. I'm going to name/engrave them... Truth and Reconciliation.

Might I suggest wearing a hidden camera to film people flipping out when you take it out to use? :D

I may have to get one of these. And a 6" Ti-lite in XHP. And a 6" holdout in XHP.

Whatever. I'll enjoy my mall ninja side without shame.

Ha! Never got the hate towards the mega folders. Big knives are fun, and who is seriously going to argue against big knives? Can you get by with a small knife? Sure, many do, but a big knife is often much easier to use for certain jobs.

Knives are fun. :D
