I was just wondering if any you guys had any experience with the CS recon series for EDC(along with my OD) or for field work (outdoors)? Are all they cracked up to be? I never handled any CS knives before. So this would be or should I say a possible first purchase from them.
Thanks in advance.

GEC...I don't own this knife, but I do own a large Ti Lite that I think is a quite well done, solid design...mine has a really strong blade lock up, and came exceptionally sharp, despite the rather steep stiletto grind. How this quality reflects across the rest of their line, I could not say.

I have heard lots of good press on the Recon, but I have never actually handled one personally. In any case, here is a Recon review I found that you may find helpful...

Thanks for the quick response!
It looks like it will hold up to some real abuse. Does anyone have hands on experience?
Thanks again.

I've been carrying a CS Recon 1 for several years now at work (Concrete Finisher) and have no complaints whatsoever. It puts up with abuse and keeps coming back for more. Holds an edge forever and I've never had the lock fail on me.

I've found the knife to be very well designed and constructed. It came sharp out of the box and even after using the 440A version, I'm still at a loss as to why 440A is so maligned. I have a couple of AUS8A Recons, but no need to break them out as the older knife is performing just fine.

The only complaint I have with the first issue is that it's kind of hard to hang onto when wet. There's really nothing substantial to keep your hand back behind the blade if you use it in any sort of thrusting exercise. The newer version features G10 handles and it's far easier to retain. Both versions also are just a bit heavy. The lock is great, the blade snaps open with authority and closes easily. I have a leather cord through the lanyard that I can wrap around my hand quickly if there's any possibility of the knife slipping.

The steel may not hold up all that well if you cut carpet, but for most uses, it's a very good knife. If it were a movie, I'd give it three and a half stars.

I was wondering if anyone has completely disassemble their Recon 1 for cleaning.I have the G-10 handled one with a AUS 8A blade.
