I read recently that the RS had been discontinued, but now I see it listed again with a kydex sheath.
Does anyone know if the sheath is the only difference?
I'm curious to know if the blade is the same width as before.

Thanks!

I think that the thickness has stayed the same. I know that it was discontinued for a while, too. And that they brought it back with the Secure-x sheath.

I saw one on ebay recently for about $100.00; don't know if it was old or new. I've been wishing I'd bought one a few years ago, am still keeping my eyes out for one.

P.S. I used to be a big Cold Steel Fan, have about 20 of 'em, but none newer than 10-12 years old. I like the San Mai folders, and the mini-outdoorsman and california drop points are two of my favorites. The mini-tanto used to be one of my regular carry knives, and I really liked the hai hancho with the ORIGINAL serrations, not the "redesigned" ones.

CS Recon Scout is back in production - essentially a 7.5" Trailmaster. Stout general duty fixed blade.

Isn't the 'shinobu' SanMai ? I've got one of the small ones. I've also got one of the 'ultra locks'. It's got the knurled blade opening thingie. I don't think they make any of these any more.
Sorry about using your thread. :(

I just got the new Special Projects catalog in the mail yesterday. They are advertising the Recon Scout again. They have also gone back to the 25 inch blade length for the 1917 Cutlass.
