Good day to everyone. I need some guidence from the great minds in the forum. I recently had my car broken into and the Recon Scout I kept under my seat was stolen. So I 'm looking to get another CS, either the Scout or the Bush Ranger. I intend to use it for a general camp knife. I know that the steel is the same as well as the length but the Ranger is about half as heavy. I use it for some chopping, skinning, daily carry in the bush, and overall banging around. I am considering the BR because it is less expensive than the RS, but if it gets the job done I can save a few bucks.

Thanks for your help.

By the way anyone ever have their beloved blade stolen?

Improvise, adapt, and overcome. Words to live by.

Unless you want to use it for heavy prying, the Bush Ranger's more acute profile would probably give you a more functional knife as it will in general cut better. It might be outchopped by the Recon Scout on some woods but that depends on your techinque as well as the properties of the wood. You can overcome this to some extent by lowering the amount of force you use and increasing your swing rep rate. From memory, the Bush Ranger has a more ergonomic and secure handle as well.

I completely agree with Cliff. The BR has a much more ergonomic and secure handle and the blade profile is excellent for an all-around utility knife.
