:)Hi to all blade lover bros out there,

Just joined the forum not too long ago, have been collecting CS knives for a couple of years.

I simply love their San Mai 3 versions, i personally own the SM3 gurkha kukri (pity tat their flagship Carbon V pieces no longer in production), Black sable folder, entire tanto series in SM3.

The next 2 pieces I am very keen on getting are the SM3 Tai Pan and the SM3 Black Bear Classic. Both look sleek and have wicked double sharp edges.

Would be much appreciated if bros out there could share some of their experiences and reviews about these 2 pieces. Especially the SM tai pan, I have heard many shortcomings about double edged blades.

Main query is whether it can perform as per showed in their graphic proof on film, I know the SM3 kukri and tantos can.

Pls advise bros.

Cheers,
Lee

Its a beautiful knife... I had the choice between this one or the magnum tanto II and chose the tanto for its strength and piercing capabilities...

But I would happily own the Tai Pan as well.... In fact, the Magnum Tanto II and Tai Pan are almost perfectly matched in terms of weight, balance, etc...

How can you go wrong, if you already enjoy this series and steel?

I also own several cold steel SM3 blades.I Felt ripped of after I found out that the core steel was only aus8a.For that price the blades should be sg2,zdp,s90v or if prices are to tight even carbon or tool steel core would do.

I love the shape of the Cold Steel Tai Pan, but the near custom price put me off. To me, the San Mai 3 is over prices (most will agree). Look at Fallkniven, they've been doing laminate VG-10 for about a half of the price, also from what I hear, VG-1 isnt as good as VG-10 or any premium steel.

I have the normal Taipan and find it sufficient. I wouldn't spend the extra cash at the exorbitant price they want for San Mai.

I like both the Tai Pan and the Black Bear Classic in the San Mai. Seems to be quite a few others that agree, as I've dressed a bunch of both knives in my Southern Comfort concealment sheaths. Enough people have done so, that I'll from time to time have package deals already set up, so you don't have to send the knife in for fitting. Prices didn't go up that much when they switched to the San Mai, and it is an upgrade. if you look around a bit, you can find some good prices on the higher end CS products.

I have lots of knives from lots of places. That beauty is one of my all time favorite regardless what anyone says.

For the same money, you might as well buy a real knife like a Busse... San Mai is just an overpriced garbage compared to INFI.
