CS San Mai III?

I know what it is. But what steel do they use?

IIRC, it used to be 420 on the outside and AUS8 in the middle.

That sounds unimpressive (and unnesisary) given the price. AUS 8 core?

yep. that's what I thought. There used to be a cold steel forum here for a very short time, and that was something that slipped out before the forum was closed.

Note though, just like Carbon 5, the real steel used could be anything, I would imagine that along with other knives now using cheaper steel, that this might have changed too. (Though how to make it cheaper might be challenging)
