A lot of people here have the Spartan. I bet most of you were like me, I saw the design, thought it was a very unique and sturdy folder, and just HAD to have it. Once I got it in my hands, I realized how impractical it would be to try to carry. It's pocket profile is immense, with almost a full inch sticking out. It is also very wide and the recurve was too much. So I asked CM to do something about it, and this is the picture I sent him, to show him what I meant:
Basically, I wanted the recurve toned down without losing any blade length, and I wanted the same solid grip, without the extra frills, so I could cut down on pocket weight and size. I also wanted it to be a deep carry knife.
Here is the monster he sent back (I may have one-upped Ankerson's spartanto!
):
compared to old one:

how it looks in the pocket:
Next up... I asked CM to turn an XL Voyager tanto into an XL voyager clip point. I wanted a 4.5" deep carry knife with a thick thick tip, and here is his work:
in hand:
size comparison with large voyager clip point (note how deep it carries!):
tip thickness comparison with large voyager clip point:
Anyways, I am really enjoying these blades, and many thanks to Charlie Mike for all his hard work!
edit: Also I should mention that the Spartan's edge is convexed and mirror polished...its a heck of a knife!
