Hey does anyone know if the CS Spartan listed on Amazon is the newer stonewashed version or the bead blast finish?

Also, can anyone with the CS Spartan in stonewash tell me how the rest resistance is? Everyone I've talked to have said the bead blast version rusts very easily.

I recently purchased a Spartan on Amazon and it was stone washed, plus it shows the difference in the picture on the box now too.

Bead-blasted finishing is one of the worst ideas, since it opens up the pores in the steel that allow moisture to get in it and cause corrosion.

Thankfully most knife companies have stopped offering it now and gone to other finishes instead.

I haven't carried it enough to tell the difference in it, but I have been carrying the Voyagers with the stone-washed blades for over two years now and they only get a little bit of rust spots on them compared to the original bead-blasted blade Spartan I had did.

I traded out my bead blast Spartan for a stonewashed one in August. I carry it everyday and use it for something everyday. (Impromptu pruning, limited food prep, packaging, box opening, etc.)

While it is quite dry here with very low humidity, I would notice the occasional rust spot on the bead blasted one. Since I procured the stonewash, I have not had a single issue with it and I feel like I've maintained it less.

Love the stonewash so much, I'm looking for a Rajah. Hope this helps.

Hey. I have the stonewashed and bead blasted Spartans and this is what I've noticed. While the bead blast finish is ,in my opinion, a very attractive finish; it is very prone to rust. I have a relatively strenuous job ,so, I sweat a fair amount. I had to constantly clean spots off of the blade with steel wool and re-apply Tuff glide. Not so with the new blade. Occasionally there will be a small spot of rust that appears, being sweaty and all. But all I have to do is rub it with a piece of cloth( or even just my finger ) and it's gone. I have never applied a coating. Thanks to Cold steel for changing to stonewashed , cause it f- ing rocks!
