I'd play it safe and buy from an authorized dealer instead or someone trustworthy off the Exchange.

Welcome to BladeForums, by the way. We've got a great community here and lots of great information. :)

The ricassso writings on both sides look real. They match my SM SRK exactly.
But my lamination line is clearly visible. Not sure what "sheet" you are referring to.

thank you for welcome, i thought i've introduced myself 1st time i've made account here but posts number says i didn't.. sorry.
i'm Mike collector from Poland, interesting in knives since around 5 years+.
this particular SRK i'm gonna buy from one of our polish knives board member so it should be ok unless he was cheated to buy fake which i'm trying to establish here now.

as for missing laminate border - could it be possible that early vg1 was made with full steel blank not laminate or is vg1 always a laminate?

ps.: yes Sheath my mistake sorry again didn't meant to be sheet.

You should be able to see the lamination line. Here is a picture from Cold Steel's website:

I checked several websites and on all of them I could see the lamination line.

also this hollow grind, above SRK writings seems to be uneven, it started with little belly then going straight line i've never had any CS knife so it's hard for me to say if such small bugs are normal with knive over $100 or not? this flat surface above grind seems to be thinner then going wider - it looks for me like sloppy work, doesn't fit what i've thought about CS :(

so it's counterfeight from aliexpress?

I think its a fake. there should be a laminate line running throughout the blade;period. also , theres no logo on the sheath. turn the knife blade edge facing up, and look at the block of the tang. there should be laminate lines running in there. I had 2 srk san mai's and all these things should be there.Thats probably a tin can from ali express.too bad you couldn't baton it to see how fast it breaks..

OK. My "sheet" has COLD STEEL, Secure-Ex on it. I believe there are some sheaths that simply say SECURE-EX on it.
But I have never seen one that had nothing on it.

My choil is rounded from the ricasso, whereas yours seems like it's cut more
like a "v". Nothing definitive but seems like a couple of questionable issues here.
The biggest of course is that we can't see the lamination line.
I would avoid this as a likely Chinese counterfeit.

choil also raises my objections but i thought v shape was just by angle of camera.
thanks guys, i'll pass on it.

The index finger guard is short. you are blind. plus no lam. line and ... the etching is cheap looking!
