CS SRK Handle coming loose

Hey there, just thought I’d give this a shot as I know this is a fairly common issue among SRK fans/users out there, experiencing their krax-ex over molded handles becoming loose for different reasons. To my surprise I couldn’t find any posts covering this issue that were of any help. At least not what I was looking for. I saw a couple posts talking about completely re-handling the SRK, but what I was hoping to find was anybody that has any tricks up their sleeve and experience with glueing etc. the kray-ex to the tang so it’s ready for some more long term hard use.. and possibly any idea what the best material for the job may be? epoxy, gorilla glue, super glues.. i have shoe goo which is some solid stuff that works well with rubber material, also works as a water proof seal i think it could possibly be a good match for the job. Only i’m not sure how it will bond to the steel tang (coated steel?) and mostly, a good angle Of attack to apply the glue... So there it is.. the age old SRK problem. If any of you have any solutions, it would be great to hear some. Thanks guys :)

Cold Steel uses Kraton for the grips on the SRK, Master Hunter and a bunch of others. I haven't heard of any problems with them coming loose; most are secured by the brass lanyard tube. It's great stuff IMHO, gives a good grip whether it's hot or cold, wet or dry or covered with blood/fat. Several of mine are over ten years old with no change or problems with loosening. As far as re-handling, I tried that on a much abused Master Hunter and pretty well botched the job -- the tang doesn't square off against the end of the blade and I ended up with a wood handled piece of junk.

I would use 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive Sealer. It's based on polyurethane and takes close to 2 weeks to completely cure, but having tried to remove the stuff -- or detach items that were glued with it in boats (better bring a BIG crowbar) -- I would absolutely trust it to glue on a knife handle, assuming it will adhere to Kraton (or whatever polymer is used for the Cold Steel handle).

If you go this route, be sure to clean off any excess from your hands and on the knife FAST with acetone, or else you will need a disk grinder to remove it down the road...
