cs srk issues?

Was very much looking forward to my new srk (aus 8) coming as an early present to myself but was pretty disappointed when I opened the box up and found I had a beautiful but dull knife. Worked a bit with it on my lansky system but no luck. I'm not an expert sharpener so I didn't want to spend too much time with it before I came here for a little advice. Should I send it back? Change the angle (tried 25 degree)? By the way, had (and still have) the same issue with my BRK2.

On the other hand, the new Omni Hunter 12pt I got myself came pretty sharp and then after a few passes on the stones is even more so! :)

thanks in advance!

I think 25° is pretty steep. Check youtube for sharpening videos. The lansky should work fine on the srk.

I love my SRK. Like everything in that pricerange and under, I expect to have to do some mundane reprofiling out of the box. Once I have the angle I'm looking for, at that point I expect to hold an edge. My SRK has been through alot, and the edge looks nothing like it did from the factory-but Aus8 is a fanatastic working steel, hones super easy, takes some good abuse and still keeps going. Invest time in sharpening as a skill and an investment in your blade. Tools require knowledge of use and maintenance to maximize what you are able to get out of them. Thin up the edge, polish it down, and then start testing your expectations and the manufacturer's quality claims.
