I tried to google and search the forums, but didn't find any clear opinion about this karambit. Im a bit suspicious because of the low price, since CS has quite crispy prizes in my opinion.

Any experience?

No experience with this knife. The 5" blade is an illegally long carry where I am; and the karambit style really limits its utility.

Also, it seems to me that it would be a real job to try to explain to an LEO why you'd happen to have that knife with you.

Its uglyer in person,I bought one when they first came out.I cant tell ya what one could use it for. Not junk, the sharpest CS knife I ever have seen out of the box. And I have a bunch(20+). Carries nice. Mall Ninjas mite like it.

I don't think too many people have tried it. Some of the stuff about karambits when they first became hot said how it was a field knife adapted to SD. The ring aids retention while working and the curved blade works like any hawkbill. It's usefulness cutting rope and harvesting probably wouldn't get you very far with a cop if caught strolling downtown with it in the small of your back.

A while ago cold steel (lynn thompson) published an article about how the karambit was all gimmick and no substance. but when he saw how popular they became he decided hed bite back his words and produce one. that shows a lack of integrity and an excess of BS. Im not even gonna go into his business ethics.

The karambit is a great knife style for a small close combat weapon. while its not the fighting knife a bowie is, its very effective at what it does.

emerson makes the best non custom k-bits out there right now i edced the emerson combat karambit folder and its a wonderful knife imho.

just my .2 cents

A while ago cold steel (lynn thompson) published an article about how the karambit was all gimmick and no substance.

I recalled that article as well, and I specifically remember the line "it ain't all that" at the top of the article.

However, it doesn't look like he said it had no substance at all, only that there were some big disadvantages and it was not necessarily better than a plain old knife.

The description on the new product's page even says it has "limited uses," which is about as modest as you can expect CS/LT to get:

Okay. Im a bit revolted by Lynn Thompson as well, and some of the CS products I have bought long ago weren't that satisfying. Not crap, but just didn't feel that good personally.

Maybe it is the best I keep myself away from CS products.

And I have to agree with karambit thing. To make knives only because it is popular is quite weird from company that say that they make "the best knives in the world". Yeah yeah

All I gotta say is, it's big.

But then again I have fat fingers and to find a decent kerambit that actually fits well is a good thing.

My wife got it for my birthday :D

But yeah they are worth it, and even if you don't like it all too much, it makes a heck of a little conversation piece.

I have to say that it's one of the best looking mass produced karambits I've seen. Such a vanity bitch that I am. Karambits are certainly the kind of knives that - amongst "normal" people - make uneasy atmosphere. :D
