Don't you just love it when something you thought you'd lost turns up again? Pried open a box today and there was my classic original CS Tanto, which disappeared a couple of moves ago. The brass was a bit dull (and I left it that way, no reflection) but it was still sharp as a witch. Got it from Lynn Thompson after a friendly exchange of letters around the time of the first Gulf War; I think I paid $75; it was probably a 'second' as there was a minor blemish on the blade if you looked real hard. Still don't know what the '400 Series' steel used in it is; I'd guess 440B maybe. Takes and holds and excellent edge and by all accounts it's tough stuff. I used it to butcher out a moose one time; that long curved cutting edge worked great, and the chisel tip made separating joints very easy. Wouldn't be my first choice for a wilderness blade, but I wouldn't worry over much if it was the only one I had. It'll go in the bug-out bag for now.:D

I've never found a knife that was lost. Usually when I lose one, I lose it good.:o

Congrats on finding yours again, though! I can imagine it was a very pleasant surprise to see that one peeking out of the box.:D

Now, if I could just find that Mnandi I lost last year.:(
