well i broke down and decided to purchase cold steel's tomahawk dvd. i found it on ebay for $65 new so i bought it. i was very impressed with it and would be willing to pay the full cs price for it. it is two discs with i would say 2 hrs per disc. Lynn covers everything from customizing your hawk to throwing and everything in between.

i had just got done reading Dwight McLemore's book on the subject and i felt this was a good follow up to that. Lynn doesn't cover off hand weapons but says it is a good idea to always have one though. he does cover alive hand.

some of the subjects covered are gripping, stances, chopping, cutting, slashing, hammering, gouging, sawing, pushing, pulling, and hooking.
countering, disarms, strength and agility drills. distance judging drills, strategy and much much more.

if you have any questions about this dvd i will try and answer them for you.

Hey Guys:
I really was glad to see Lynn Thompson come out with this video. Now I don't have to do one and be subjected to all the 'Experts' and historians that 'Have all the answers'. Sometimes it amazes me how someone who has never picked the weapon to train can tell me what I'm doing is wrong. Oh well, forgive this grumpy ole man. He sent me a complementary copy along with some of his products. I got a chance to talk to him on the phone about the techniques and training. He is a really dedicated guy who is one of the few weapons distributors who trains daily and knows how to use all the weapons he sells. He was referred to me from Maestro Ramon Martinez of New York, who Lynn spent consiberable time with learning the Spanish System of Fence. So that should tell you just how broad Lynn's perspective is. Lynn has a slightly different approach to training than I do, but it's just as valid. I use Lynn's video as a regular reference . Here lately I've been getting email asking about Gary Mah and I doing some sort of Tomahawk seminar in 07/08. I would like to ask you guys, if there is really a demand for this or would we be wasting our time. At the International Swordfighting & Martial Arts Convention (July in Detroit) my good friend and associate Steve Huff will be teaching a 'dynamite' Tomahawk and Longknife class. Although a lot of the people that attend this are 'Stage Combat' people, the instruction is none-the-less very practical & tactical. Check out their site and you might see some other things that you would be interested.

Dwight, as long as I'm not deployed during the above date, I would LOVE to attend and should actually be able to take the time off to do so!

Got a dead link from this one, Dwight. I wish I had the time to go to this one, though, but graduation from IET is going to use up all my leftover leave. I'd love to take a class from Steve in the future, though.
