Hello everyone ,

I am a long time lurker. I don't post much due to the great post and info found here.

Anyways i was just wondering if anyone here has or has handled a CS trail boss? Ive been wanting to get a axe for around the yard and to take with me on camping trips and so forth.

The price on this axe is just right. Thanks for any info you guys can provide.

Edit:

I hope this topic hasnt already been discussed. Sorry if it has. I just found out the search feature is disabled to non-subscribing members.

In my opinion its a very good Hawk.

Bought one some time ago. Its sharp "out of the Box", the Hickory handle feels comfortable, and they secured the head with a metalring pressed in the Hickory, not with a screw like in their other models.

The handle could be a little under-build but it worked well, then i tested it.

only drawback: no sheath.

ps. I don't use axes very often, so its the opinion of an amateur. ;)

It looks like a stout axe. I was also looking at the gerber extra large axe. There about the same price i like the polymer handle. I hope to get more info on the CS axe. I mite just buy it and put it threw some test and write a review.

You can use Google to search only a specific website (like this one :)), You can't make it sub-forum specific but otherwise it works pretty well.

Thanks for the info. So the edge needs a little work? Doesn't seem too bad for the money.

Just about any axe you buy needs work on the edge, so don't let that bother you. They are almost universally too thick. A fresh sharp file and a little elbow grease should be all you need if you don't have a belt sander. Go slow and keep your fingers on the trailing hand away from the edge, a longer file has the advantage. ;)

Mine came with an edge that way pretty dull. I had a guy re-profile it to a V grind and it works great now. I like the handle length and it makes a good camp axe.
