After seeing the Trail Hawk mod thread, I decided to try my hand at it. I sprayed the head with Citristrip, wrapped it loosely in saran wrap, and waited for a few hours. Most of the coating came off and i used a razor blade to take the rest off. After I was finished I noticed a black oval near the edge. I checked and I saw the same thing on the other side. I figured that I hadn't removed all of the coating and repeated the stripping process, but instead of waiting a few hours, I waited for about 30 minutes. It didn't work though and I'm not sure what I should do next so I decided to ask on here because I really have no experience apart from stripping my BK7 (and that was only a few weeks ago). Has this happened to anyone before? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing some type of temper mark. You going to force patina or blue it?

Apply mustard with a qui-tip- stripes or whatever pattern, let it set about 20 min then soak a paper towel in vinegar and wrap blade 20 min or so. rinse and wipe off. Cool effects no mess. For bluing-get some cold blue- simple, quick, easy to do. On any of these jobs you can simply erase with fine steel wool or a miracle eraser. You cannot hurt it.
