Hiyas,

just wanting to know if anyone has some 'personal' experience with this knife. I am getting right into bowies at present (thanks for starting me off SANTI! =) ), and would like this one as a way outback "backup" type blade, or user. Any pictures or sites where there are some good pics would also be very much appreciated!!

Probably not the place to post either, but if anyone has a stag handled version for sale, let me know!

Cheers,

Guy

Stap's main thing is durbility testing. I don't think the done it ion a stag TM. They are good knives the TMs. They rust so use Tuff Cloth on them. The stag handle is probably more comfortable than that rubber handle.

The stag Trailmaster does not have a full length tang, I understand, due to the difficulty of fitting a curved stag grip. It has a short length of chain welded to the end which is somehow attached to the butt cap. So while they're mighty purty, they ain't so sturdy:).

I have both the kraton and the stag. Even though my hands are pretty small, I like the stag better. The kraton handle is a tad thin. I prefer the swelled palm of the Busse Basics to the thinned center of the TM handle. That said, I've used the kraton TM a lot over the last 6-8 years and it performs very well. Like one of the posters above, I'd be a little reluctant to pound the stag handle model as hard as the kraton. Of course, I've always found CS customer service to be good and they would probably replace the stag handle if it failed.
