...how do you tighten up the pivot screw on this knife? Unlike the type of screws found on benchmades, crkt's, etc, it can't be adjusted with a regular benchmade screwdriver kit.

Suggestion?

Lay the VG on a flat piece of clean steel, and using a flat-tip punch, lightly tap the pivot-pin with a hammer a couple of times...check the tightness, and repeat as needed. I have done this to a very loose Cold Steel Voyager, and it worked very well, but be sure to take it slow, check the progress often, and tap lightly.:).

You're welcome.:).

...The CS Vaquero Grande is quite a KNIFE, ain't she?.:D. I carry mine in my "strong-side" back pocket, as one of my 3 or 4 "EDC" folders..

Hey Glockman99,
I was thinking of getting the VG and then putting it through some heavy use during camping perhaps. After the serrations have been dulled, is it a good idea to sharpen it into a plain edge??

it's hard to admit that it's my favorite folder. The reason why I hate to admit it...is because after spending money on quality knives, and then finding one that performs double the amount of work, and doubles as a tactical as well, for HALF the price, I must admit it's painful to admit. Though it REALLY is quite lovely.

I know I'll get killed for this, but I like it even better than my camillus cuda maxx.

I have an x2 voyager also, and I'm crazy about that one too. But the vg is, to me, very special.

also, I can't believe you carry that thing!! Although I must admit I've carried it just for the fun of it a few times (on weekends, when my wife is driving), it's not part of my rotation because how in heck am I going to justify that to an nypd officer? LOL! However, if I wasn't so concerned about that, I'd carry it constantly, forever a part of my EDC rotation.

I guess that you COULD do that if you want to...It's YOUR knife, BUT Lansky, Gatco, and Spyderco (and maybe a couple others) make sharpeners that are designed to sharpen serrations. In-fact, Lansky makes a sharpener that is made expressly for the Cold Steel serrations.

Also, keep in mind that the Vaquero Grande was designed as an offensive/defensive folder...Not one ment to chop-down trees with, and that the smaller points of the serrations can break-off with hard use.

I had one for a while but ended up trading for a smaller knife. I felt like I was carrying one of those folding camp saws.:D

Gary,

You are absolutely correct in that the VG does seem alot like one of those folding camp-saws (and is about the same-size!), BUT I'd be willing to bet "dollars to donuts" that if a crazy homicidal "boogy-man" jumped-out at me, I could slice him right in-half with my monster 'Grande!...I sure NEVER feel "under-armed" when packing that "saw".:D.

I believe it was Jim March who told his account of chasing off a couple of guys (dressed like girls) who were beating a guy with claw hammers by merely displaying his VG.

Glockman,

Thanks for the reply. I think I might have to pick up one of those Lansky's sooner or later.
