Hi Folks,
despite the rumors of CS's Service and Support not being up to par, I have a very positive Support incident to report. My Recon 1 XL Tanto folder came new with a slight rattle when closed, and I ignored it for a while until it got even more noticeable to me. So I sent it back with an explanation of the problem and an apology for the ugly resharpening job that I did (although razor sharp). I thought that all it needed was a new washer/pin and fully expected them to just change out the loose offending part and return the folder sans rattle. I checked with them yesterday as to an ETA and they informed me that a replacement folder had been mailed out that very day. What a pleasant surprise. Thank you Cold Steel.
All the best,
Alan

i sent them an email about a problem i had with a spartan and they never got back to me. i'm actually surprised they would do do that.

Calling works best. Also to the OP if rattled when closed, it was the Triad pin. If it rattles when open, it is the stop pin.

And if it rattles when open AND when closed, it might be the little counter-plate of the pocket clip mounting (inside of the scales). Had this issue with my G10 Espada

it can also be the tiny pin inside the aluminum backspacer that is holding the triad lock spring, it will rattle whether it's open or closed. a drop of grease will stop it.

With 99% of the times I contact Customer Service, I find a phone call is infinitely more productive than an email. This goes for not just Cold Steel

Hi Folks,
if the rattling when closed makes the triad pin the culprit, is there a fix for it?
Thanks,
Alan

You can open it up and put a little drop of super glue in one of the holes the pin sits in. That would make it stop rattling.

What I'm getting from this thread is that there are a lot of parts that could rattle in a Triad folder, but none of them will cause functional issues.
