I would like to add a new knife to my pocket for daily carry. I am debating between a Canal Street Canittler (3 blade canoe) or the small Queen stockman. I don't have a knife from either maker, but definately lean toward quality built pocket knives. They both have D2 blade, and for my needs the blade shapes would be equelly useful, daily pocket knife chores and whittling. So what do you think? Thanks.

I vote for the Canal Street. My ram's horn canittler is one of my most prized knives. See what you think!

Although I have some excellent Queen knives the company quality control is uneven. Unless you can examine before purchase go with Canal Street. This small firm should have consistent quality. Great Eastern is making a lot of quality knives also.

I think it is more about the quite different knife patterns and size more than the maker

The Canittler (3 5/8") is a much heavier knife with a very sturdy main blade the width of the two back blades.
The two back blades are very useful
My canittler cam super sharp out of the box
A strong working knife

The small Queel stockman @ 3 1/4" is a different knife
Small and light in the pocket, a nice longer length clip blade, and small but useable sheepsfoot and spey
It has nice crisp swedges
You will need to sharpen it
A small more 'office' orientated pocket knife

The Canal Street wil be a better F&F

I agree with Neeman's comments. Very different knives.

My one Canal Street is a bit above my Queens in Fit and Finish. That is not to say that my Queens are poorly finished or in any way unsatisfactory aside from their blunt factory edges.

Thanks for your thoughts; what about spring pressure, are they about equal or is one significantly stronger that another. Compare also to one of the older GEC's, I've got the small sleeve board and the large trapper. To me, the sleeve board is to stiff, but the trapper is fine, especially since it is such a large knife.

I'm carrying my CSC Cannitler, similar to Jeff's, for the June challenge. It has done everything I normally ask a pocket knife to do without any issues. I'm sure you'll like yours if you get one. I don't have a Queen Small Stockman yet but I'm looking to pick one up soon.

Generally, a good Queen has more grunt to it than most other production slipjoints.
