Does anyone know what finish Canal Street Cutlery applied to their reclaimed chestnut? Varnish, polyurethane, boiled linseed oil, tung oil, etc.
Thanks...

There was never a finish applied to any of the knives, they were fine sanded and buffed, that's it. Of course all the wood was stabilized before use with the exception of cocobolo and ebony since they're naturally high in resin to begin with.

To close this out, I found this information on the Drop Point Hunter blog posted by M. Siegel...
The Reclaimed American Chestnut wood handles were salvaged from a historic tobacco barn in Hopkinsville Kentucky and are stabilized with a drying agent and resin making them harder and more durable than bone.

DeltaPapa, sorry, I missed you're last post, it was a pressure/heat process. There was no drying agent though, not sure where he got that info.
