CSM 11's hard to sharpen?

Got another csm in a trade Thing was dull as a rock when i got it, but "no problem" i said because ill just sharpen her up. Well 30 minutes later with 3 different stones she still cant slice paper. My usual set up is 250/1000 wetstone then if i choose i finish it on a strop with black and green compound. Did that and still dull. so i whipped out the coarse benchstone, followed that again with the wet stone, and still dull. I get the burr, flip over and remove it. Ive never had any problems sharpening any knives i own and the reg 11 i have get scary sharp everytime, so what gives? are these just harder to sharpen? or am i losing it?

could be the harder core. keep trying. if after a few more hours, it's dull dull dull, give KaBar a call.

also, how are we definining sharp? slice cardboard, paper, silk, hair, actual shaving?

mine gave quite sharp. they're supposed to have been hand stropped on paper by an expert before leaving Japan...
 
After about 45 minutes its now workable sharp. Which is really where I want it for the july challenge that im doing today. after putting it through the ringer ill see if I can get it shaving sharp.
 
if it cuts my steak smoothly, it's sharp enough :)

gotta get me a belt machine sometime soon...
 
This has the tanto sheath, was that the one with the dulling problems or was it the other one? Or both?
