I've always wanted a Vietnam/ LaGana type tomahawk. I'm a carbon steel, hickory handle kind of guy. I recieved my Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk last night. I just spent about 30 minutes with it and a file. NOW, it's pretty darn sharp. I'm about to spend some time with some 2000 grit sand paper. Thoughts on this model? I don't plan on throwing it. Maybe just spliting wood for the fire pit and a "just in case" hawk.

I like them, but I prefer something with a hammer poll (or close facsimile) on the backside.

I'm more into hatchets as tools, but I like those. La Gana didn't just make something that looked like a tomahawk, he clearly put a lot of thought into his own design.
There's an extended hymn of praise to it in the thread "why the ATC VTAC excels".
(He used a side-arm throw for hunting small game on the ground, by the way- prevents bounce-overs.)
