I got a Les George VEP folder with CTS-XHP steel about a week ago. The knife felt kinda sharp but would not shave hair off of your arm. I tried stropping it and that did not help. I got out the old sharpmaker and said I will fix this. Lol It feels sharp but still won't shave hair off your arm. It won't cut note pad paper it will just tear it. I started off using the coarse stone used at 30 degress and then went to fine using the edges of both stones. Any suggestions? Sorry if this has been ask a dozen times. I really like this knife and would like to get it sharp.

I'm guessing using the 30 degrees setting you're not hitting the edge, but behind it. Try the 40 degree and see what you get. Better yet, use a sharpie and see exactly where you're hitting.

FYI, the Sharpmaker rods aren't really "coarse".

The standard rods are 'Medium', about 1000 grit, and 'Fine', about 2400 grit.

The optional Diamond/CBN rods are about 400 grit while the 'Ultra Fine' rods are about 4800 grit.
