Anyone have any thoughts or comments about the steel?

I have one blade - my XM-18 that has it - but honestly I have been so busy that I have not had the chance to put it through any real hard use yet.

I was able to get a painfully sharp edge on it, and it does seem to do real well in the rust resistance department.

Can anyone compare to M4? I don't have any M4 blades (yet) - better / worse / the same?

CPM-M4 is not a stainless steel, where as XHP has some stainless qualities. I have a Gayle Bradley (CPM-M4) that has developed a very slight discoloration on the belly from what I would guess was cutting tomatoes.

The Manix 2 XHP I have is fairly new and have not really needed to use it for heavy duty cutting yet. I do know that my M4 blade can slice through most things (cardboard to copper CAT6 and Cat3 cables) with very little effort. Plus it is a bit easier to sharpen than some other steels (might be due to the CPM process, not sure).
