I wonder if Buck will ever consider using CTS-XHP in their knives? That is a simply wonderful steel.

That would be awesome! I'd be in for a 119/ 120/ 124 in xhp; I already have a 110 in s30v (custom).

Not only would this be a good steel for the 119, but it would be perfect for the 110, 112, 113, 102, 501, 301, et al.

This steel is more than simply a stainless D2. It holds an edge better and is not brittle.

I don't know about changing their already existing knives but if they designed a new model, that could be interesting. The Vantage series and the Marksman are pretty awesome modern knives. I feel like they could do something as special if they did another collaboration.

Now that I think about it, the vantage in a M4 or M390 or S35v could be amazing too.

As far as I know, Buck will use new steels when they deem it appropriate, but they don't really play the "arms race" game with other companies. 420HC, S30V and the like are working out just fine.

I kind of wish they would. Start off with a modern folder to take on BM, Reves and Spiders.

That would be pretty awesome... Buck/Carpenter w/ Bos ht could be a match made in heaven if it ever happened...

A new design would be great,, but I could even see them tweeking some of their A/O models to go h2h with other "top" Brands currently out there that have been getting more praise of late in the "modern" market; BM, Spydi, KAI, etc... Not saying they'll take the market by storm, not going to remake the wheel, but they could certainly be a solid presence in the $100-200, premium production lines with some innovation.

-the Quickfire is already a winning design IMO, with the locking blade on midlock design, deep pocket clip; i think it looks great for a modern folder, but it just needs a modern steel... That is my biggest turn off to 'em
Maybe call it a mini though and make a slightly bigger version with a 3.25" blade, (and 3.75" large version),, my 2nd biggest turn off is <3" blade, as 3-3.5" is my preferred length to edc on a folder. A deassisted version would be great too for those who don't like a/o's...

They could even do patterned Thermoplastic handles like the Bantam for days, and I wouldn't mind, camo's, colors, skulls, flowers, corporate logo's, endless options, so long as the Steel was better... They'd have folks trying to "collect 'em all".

No knock on Buck's 420hc either, I've just become accustomed now to wanting more... Much as I respect Buck, and want to keep liking them, and I do like them, their failure to step into the higher end steels (aside from the s30v) is what is holding them back for me.

If the Quickfire came with a 3.25" blade in say BDZ1, BD1, and/or XHP for $60-100, it would be on par with, maybe even surpass the Blur to be my favorite EDC knife. And if it came in different colors and designs, limited runs, etc. i would definitely start collecting them (like I do blurs).

-A simplistic framelock Rush with it's super thin blade?
(Also with a larger model added, and a deep clip)...
-and definitely the the (cute) little 2.5oz. impulse,
-maybe bring back the sirus

I could see them directly competing with the smaller Kershaw leek, chive market.

release them in multiple basic colors (cuz people love their favorite colors) like the leek and grip and spydie offers come in, with a nice bdz1 option, and an xhp premium option.

some Sprint runs and limited editions in other cts metals;
bd30p (=s30v), 204p (=m390) and 20cp (=s90v)

If they could contract with carpenter and keep the prices at a fair and compeitive market price, they could have a top notch platform right there already on hand to push their ASAP designs into the modern market of high(er) end USA made production folders...

-expand a bit on the Paradigm design, with the bolster lock as a platform to start with. Work out the design a bit better and perfect it, (maybe add a CF scale model, along with different g10 colors). They already had the "pro" in s30v;
-if they could work out some minor kinks and get the bolster lock design to be a bit more reliable,and also perfect their ASAP tech, and usr a premium steel, they could have some winning designs in that respective market.

-also, if they would just build a beefy overbuilt framelock (proven design) with a true premium steel and the Buck name and logo, and keep it right around $200 or less, (the basic ZT price range), it would turn heads and get attentio to say the least.

(And of course an option on the custom shop, for the 110's and such)

I can dream right...
