Hello,
I came across this auction on ebay. This particular knife is in so excellent conditions that It's hard for me to believe it is the genuine one form WW2.
The seller says it is all genuine from WW2, and never used, and that he acquired it in 1980 at a real estate sell.
I would appreciate any hints if you may look at the pictures.
thank you very much

It's fine. It's late war, and a decent amount of them survive in that type of condition. The only thing missing is the top bit that holds the care tag to the sheath.

Well, it doesnt look like a 'Cttaraugus,' as per your thread title.

The eflay link states, that it is a Camillus.

Camillus made this type of knife but I cant tell whether its genuine nor its age from the pic.

From what little I can tell, it looks to be in exeptional condition, should it be a WWII era knife.

You need to delete the eflay link and use a photo host - try imgur. Itll take you all of three minutes to download and post all the pics.

It appears to have the "care card" too!
Can't be that bad a choice to have to make?
It's advisable to keep new looking vintage or absolutely mint knives
as purely something meant for the joy of collecting.
And as for anyone tempted to try out the knife,
there is always the plentiful amount of Modern day or current made equivalents
Readily Available for actual use...

I understand this, and for this reason I really wish KA-BAR would release a period correct version down to the packaging.
Can you imagine what it would be like to have the experience ones grandfather would've had when being handed such a knife before shipping out and first using this powerful blade ?
Sure it was just a tool, but these were young men and I'll bet many hadn't held a sizeable sheath knife like this before.
A Marines knife enthusiast grandson may be tempted to buy such an original nos knife to experience it, and to get the same thing brand new from KA-BAR would save such an old knife.

Right, I see what you mean.
I certainly would be keen to see
the exact wartime mk2 fibre sheaths
Made Available For present day products.
I dunno, perhaps it could be
that nobody presently thinks
That There would be enough money to be made ...
I can only imagine that some PRC entrepreneur
Might just see the light and pull it of big time someday ;-)
Come what may, I sure hope the scabbard's internal friction catch springs
Are made to be Less abrasive on the blade finishings...

I apologize the title is wrong bacause I was looking for 2 different knives and this was a lapsus plus a typo.
I wanted to change the title but I Was not able after submitting the thread.
