My youngest son Peter was made Cub of the year 2013 at his pack .
He is becoming a young man with a sense of self direction and eagerness to live life and participate in various activities that interest him.
Who among us of my age would have taken up Ballet whilst still in primary school Without getting his head kicked in by the toughs?
Not many.
He makes me proud to be his Dad.Sure he will argue the colour of an orange and he needs help with things -he s 10 years old. He has a Go.And that counts.
In honour of his achieving Grey Wolf badge before going up to Scouts later this year I'm giving away a Camillus cub scout. Its old ,its Cel- had it for ages and seems OK.
If you know someone of a cub scout/brownie guide description who would like it. Or simply if you collect these. "I'm in" will get your name in the hat.
I'll draw the winner next week sometime.
Good Luck and Be Prepared.

Congratulations to your son. Mine is now in the Scouts and really likes it, like I did.

Not an entry. I already have to many scout knives.

Looks like Peter has inherited his Dad's sense of humor!!

Nice GAW also Mr. Meaks. I am awash in scouts, so don't count me in, but lucky will be the person, who wins that fine historical knife!!

Great pic! :D

Congratulations to the young man, but I haven't time to be entering, I'm too busy tramping the rain-sodden English streets, shivering under a thin mackintosh, with barely a crust of bread inside me...;)

Not an entry pal, already enjoying your generosity :) Good luck everyone

Thank you All for the kind words.
Yes he is a chip off the old block .

(mum voice)I'm not surprised you haven't eaten your bread after you stuffed all those rum soaked chocs and half a bottle of glenwhatitsname down .Don't come moaning to me with wet feet if you don't wear the nice raincoat that Aunty Marge knitted for you!:p

Congrats to your son, you both must be proud, that's a great accomplishment, my daughter was like that, she was never afraid to try anything and if she started something, she finished it.

Looks like you have a great relationship, let me tell you it just gets better.

Oh BTW, not an entry, my daughter already has that knife in her collection of Scout knives.

Not an entry either, just wanted to say congratulations to your son. Our son went from Tiger Cub all the way to Eagle Scout. I was an assistant Scoutmaster/Committee Chair for 10 years. Enjoyed every single minute of it and it was time well spent.

I'm in.

My youngest earned his "Whittling Chip" this year and would be elated to get an actual Cub Scout knife. Charlie is my current avatar, peeking out from under a table several years ago at one of his older brothers' Cub Scout banquets. My oldest stayed in and has the rank of Star Scout on his way to Eagle Scout.

Congrats to your son on his achievement!

I would be proud of that if it were my son Meako..Well done young man !....Will throw my hat in as im on a Boy Scout forage of late and dont have an apropos knife...thanks for the chance.................FES

What a proud Dad you must be Meako - well done, and well done to your Son - he must be learning a lot - and also be proud as punch within himself-he should do too!
Not an entry mate, but a massive thank you to you, and for all you bring to the forum!

Awesome pic of you two Meako, and congrats to your son on the accomplishments  looks like you two were having a fun day there.
Not an entry for me please, just a thank You for all that you bring here!

Congrats to you as a dad and to your son. You both have something very special to be proud of.

Not an entry for me - hope to have scouts one day, but not yet. We're still working on using a fork properly!

Thanks for a great GAW.

First off, congratulations to your son! I'm sure his accomplishments have made you a proud father. I know I would be proud.
Your sons ballet lessons made me chuckle and think of a conversation my wife and I had after just having our first born. My wife informed me that this child was not going to play football (the American kind) like his father did. Instead he would play soccer (the other kind of football) like his mother did. I responded by telling her that he would try many things. Things we wanted him to try, as well as things he wanted to try. I added, " If he wants to take ballet, then I will sign him up for ballet."
Anyhow, that first son of mine is now seven and has just started this past year in the scouts. I enjoy this time I get to spend with him one on one.

I'm in! And will gift this to my son if I am lucky enough to win.
Thanks for the great GAW!
I would like to add that I always enjoy reading your posts.

Congratulations to your son Meako!
My older son won such an award from our Cub Scout Pack before moving up to the Boy Scout Troop to earn Eagle when he was 16. I'm sure you are as proud of him as I am of our two sons, especially since their dad was never a Scout! I'm making up for it now.

This isn't an entry, as I have one of those great Cub knives. I just wanted to say Congratulations! :)

Cheers,
Griff

Great achievement and looks to be a great kid! My youngest will go into cubs this summer and have been looking for a knife like that! Thanks for the chance. Steven

This is not an entry, but I wanted to stop in and mention how cool I think it is that your son has drive, and is not afraid to do the things he wants to do. It is good to see boys still getting involved in scouting. The schools around here don't really help support the scouting program. When my son and I were involved, the scouting program was strong, but has diminished over the years.

Anyway, congrats to your son!

Not an entry. Just wanted to say I think it's great ya'll are involved in scouts together. My Dad and I did scouts all the way from cubs to eagle (didn't finish my project, no eagle). I can't say how many amazing memories I have from those years with my Dad and friends. It is amazing how much I learned from those years too. He will be a better man because of this time ya'll are spending in scouts.

Here is my first knife, the one my Dad got me when I earned my whittlin' chip. Buck Ecolite complete with first whittlin chip.
