Cub Scout initial impressions

Recieved my cub scout today before work. I tore open the package like a madman and couldnt believe what was inside. I was expecting top notch craftsmanship cause this is John were talking about, but this knife is much more than I expected. The fit, finish, lockup, grind lines, etc. All are damn near perfect. Every little thing most knife people nitpick about (blade play, centered blades, etc) are no problem with this knife. I used it quite a bit at work breaking down boxes and other simple chores, it obviously handled them all like a champ, and was still razor sharp.

The knife does have one little problem though: its quite stiff while opening. It can be a problem for someone with athritis or carpal tunnel like me, but Im sure itll get better over time.

Overall Im quite impressed with the cub scout, Im glad I didnt buy a sebenza now.

*Forgive the run on sentences and rambling, Im 20 days into straight 12 hour shifts, Im freaking tired!

This is great to hear. Not surprising at all though, John does it right.

John, of course I gotta post about this knife, its too great not to. ;)

jds1, Im enjoying it alot, too bad only at work.....

protourist, I shouldnt have been surprised either, its just crazy how perfect it is. Looks like a high end production knife.

Like I said before, Im happy for this to be my first high end folding knife, shows me what ive been missing.

I'd love to see someone do a side by side comparison of a high end production knife with one of John's and post it in Reviews and Testing. I have no doubt it will be equal or better and hopefully it would bring some more attention to John's blades.

I think it would stack well against other high enders. Only setbacks I see is the stiffness and tool steel blade(rather than stainless). Of course a ton of people prefer tool steel to SS. Alot of guys wouldnt have an issue openin this knife b ut since Ive taken this new job Ive got carpal tunnel like a bitch, so its kinda tough for me sometimes.

ETA: I just tried flickingi t open and it works great. So thats a good thing.
