Here's a little photo essay on my favorite GEC pattern, the Cuban cigar, patterns #53 and #54. I'm not quite sure why they chose to use two pattern numbers for these since they are exactly the same equal end frame, but the #53s (stockman, muskrat, furtaker, cattle baron) do not have half-stops, while the #54s (whittler, big jack) do. ENJOY!

How about a group shot, 19 in all

First close-up is my favorite, the stockman

Left column, top down: cracked marble, water snakes, Mexican bocote, blue oyster, coppertone
Right column, top down: red wine, exterior ram's horn, red stag, genuine stag, snakewood

Another 3-blader, the 3-backspring whittler

From the top: antique amber bone, smooth banana peel, candy red

Now for my 2-blade jacks
Cuban_Jacks.jpg

From left: burnt stag furtaker trapper, burnt grizzly big jack, amber harness, burnt stag big jack

And lastly, a couple yellow roses

From left: jigged cattle baron, smooth muskrat furtaker

They show an interesting variety of bolsters, with plain, pinched, ringed, slanted and parallel slanted.
Also a variety of swedges and nail pulls, with different combinations between GEC, Tidioute and Northfield.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice collection!

I wish I had even 1/4 of those. I like the Snakewood Stockman the best.

Those slant bolsters endow the knife with a really sleek look.

All good, all well chosen, well done!

Whew!!! All that GEC goodness at one time is almost too much for me. Beautiful bunch of knives there. I like that Grizzly bone a lot. - Ed

Ed, the grizzly big jack was my first GEC purchased, and still one of my favorites.

Being a ram horn junky, I'd place that stockman at the top of my list, with the parallel slant bolster burnt stag furtaker trapper a close second (a birthday present from my wife).
The one that definitely shows better in person is the red wine jigged bone. Like the older Case red bone, it just pops in person, plus I like the way it's super rich color fades to white toward the bolsters.

Very impressive collection. I have a fondness for Equal Enders, and these are great examples. Timeless really - the pattern is much older than serpentine knives,
Nice going!!

mamba i love it when you talk nasty. your pics are so much nicer than mine .i wish you would do this more often. thanks dennis

Great collection, Blackie! I love GEC (a bushel and a peck), and my favorites are the cigars, also. I think if you and I and Dennis lined ours all up we would just about have the Royal flush. I have 23, most of which are not duplicated in your lineup. How many different cigars are there? Maybe 200? More? I will try to post a couple more if I can get things going here. Thanks for the show!

Wow!! That is an awesome collection. I have 2 #53 Furtakers in hand and 1 #53 Stockman in Green Tea jigged bone on order.

Tongue is right on-- everyone feel free to add your own cigar pics, GEC or otherwise. I know Bulldog has made quite a few, of the newer ones, but like Charlie says, it's an old pattern, so post away!

Here is my humble collection of Cigar patterns.

The Case Cigar Jacks are smaller at about 3 1/4 inches closed.

Rick, the elk is near the top of my list to add-- it's the only stag of GECs that I don't have yet.

At least I think it is, as I have genuine, burnt, red, and 2nd cut. If there are others, maybe Mike, Eric or joe-bob could enlighten me.
