CUDA 2 blade steel question

I recently purchased a CUDA 2S and all of the info I have seen (including the printed material that came with it) shows the blade steel as ATS-34, but the actual blade is stamped as 154-CM. At some point was there a change in blade material?

PS - moderator, please delete the earlier incomplete duplicate post. The server was doing strange things.

Eric,
Your right, some of the last of the CUDA QUIK ACTION knives were made with 154cm, the American version of ATS-34, blades. Sorry if any of the literature was mis-leading, but we subsituted the Crucible version of the steel as CAMILLUS/CUDA switched over from Japanese ATS-34 to American 154CM. We found the material to be, for all practical purposes, the same, but prefered using the domestic steel once it was avialible in the sizes we needed for production. Good Stuff!

Will,
Thanks for the speedy reply! I was just curious, since the literature included referred to the ATS-34. I'm indeed happy with 154-CM. Very interesting design as well.

I've bought quite a few Camillus knives recently (CQB, CUDA 2, EDC in 154cm, etc.) and liked them all, but I REALLY like the CUDA 2. The opening speed reminds me of an automatic, which is illegal for civies in my area. I love the look and function of the ATS-34/154CM steel as well. I think concerns over the button's fragility and the slenderness of the liner lock are unfounded. So why is this knife no longer listed on Camillus's webpage? Are they dropping the early CUDA line? If so, it is indeed a shame, as I think a lot of people are going to miss these great knives... Thanks for any answers, and for listening to my little rant. :D

Xellos,
Yup, the CUDA QUIK ACTION series knives are being discountinued. They have been around now for about 4 -5 years, and its time to make way for new designs. They are very easy to use knives, and while they do have quite a small, but loyal following, sales qaunities had declined to the point it was now longer feasible to continue them. GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN.

And look for more exciting stuff from CUDA/CAMILLUS:)
