I've been thinking about getting a couple of Arclites and what wondering how everyone like them. How's the grip, does it come with a plastic holder or a leather one? How's it compare to the CRKT neck knives?

The Arclites are very nice knives. The price is also attractive. The sheaths are kydex. They make really good users.

The Arclite is a good knife. But that being said I have added some wood on the handle to make it a little thicker. Out of the box it is just a slab of steel. I guess that it is OK if you are wearing it under a shirt and don't want it seen, but I use it around the yard so I'm not concerned with that. I like it over the CRKT neck knife because I think it (CRKT) is absolutly tiny. I would really try and see one in person. The Arclite is about the same size a the EDC opened up with a nice curve in the handle.

I bought the D2 model from A.G. Russell & had it shipped to Bodecote for the diamond DLC coating, then off to TAZ to have linen micarta handle slabs added & he also modified the sheath to accomodate the handles & lastly bought a mini belt clip from Bianci to carry it horizontal on my belt.

It is very slick.

How tightly do the standard Arclites fit in their kydex sheaths? I have been thinking about getting one for my daughter. I wouldn't want to have to worry about it inadvertently coming out of the sheath and landing on something important.

It fits very tight. If it's not around my neck I need to use two hands to get it out. I've never had a problem or even found it creeping out over time.

This is a lovely little knife in my opinion. I got the combo blade, and it just seems to fit my hand really well. The neck sheath is really quite good and I haven't had any trouble with the knife coming out of it. I don't actually really like a neck sheath all that much, and SAK's daughter may well carry it in a handbag or something I suppose. Anyway, you might want to think about getting a new sheath. The knife is a really useful size and takes an edge really easily. Why there aren't squillions of these knives around I don't know. One last thing, if its for self defense purposes, what grip are you advocating? The knife just doesn't feel quite right in reverse grip to me.

I got the D2 Arclite for 50.00 from A.G. Russell, then I sent to Bodycote & had bead blasted to remove all the "graphiti" then diamond DLC coated all for $25.00, then had shipped directly to TAZ to have the handles fitted for $20.00 & he also generously reshaped the sheath to fit around the handle slabs & lastly I bought a Bladetech mini Tek-Lok $8.00(I previously said a bianci clip in error) so I could carry the knife horizontally.
So, totally $103.00 delivered.

UncleKnife,

Actually it's a little cheaper than I thought. And I do kind of like the sound of the new sheath. Does Tek-Lok have a web site?

Will-Any chance that Arclites in D-2/BG-42/? will ever become a regular catalog Item?

Is there anyone who sells leather sheaths for the Arclite? I've seen an Arclite with a leather sheath but dont know where to get one. Thanks for all the info, keep it coming.
