Hi. I just received my first Camillus knife and I am underwhelmed by the disc action. I am wondering if I have a non-representative example that needs a trip back to the factory. The literature in the package talks about how the blade "glides" to the open position and calls it the "slickest knife in America". I find it has substantial friction in the opening movement. Sometimes the detent in the liner lock seems to hang as well. What do you folks with Cuda experience say? Do I need to: (a) exercise the action 500 times; (b) dissassemble, lubricate, polish the internals; (c) return for adjustment; (d) other, or; (e) get over it, this is normal.

Guidance appreciated. - Lee

The quick actions will smooth up very quickly with a little use.
There is a bronze pivot bearing that will burnish to the liners internally and soon it will be slicker than snot.

beemerphile,
That is not normal for a CUDA QUIK ACTION. Firs, understand we stand behind our products 100%. If you are not satified, send it in ASAP. I wuld however, suggest, that you cycle the action a few time, ...maybe for a day or so, sometimes the problem is the unfamiliarity of the operator with how the action operates. If after a day or so of carrying and using the knife, if you aren't completely happy, call...

800-344-0456 and ask the ladies in customer service for a Return Authorization #, and we will be more than happy to make things right.

Thanks for being a customer!

Mate, not knowing how long you've had your knife ,or how many
cycles you've put it through, I'd advise the flush the action with WD-40
to remove the factory manufacturing grit I've found in every new knife I've
ever owned. Then lube it with some light oil (3-in-1 will do) and work the
action a bit. Mine was like yours for a bit also. Once it was cleaned and lubed
it slaps out with scary authority. SMMMMMACK!!!

If that doesn't work send it back for adjustment as it needs more than you can
do for it. Camillus make very good knives ,but , hey, everyone makes a mistake
once in awhile.

Thanks Will and others. I will cycle it madly for a few days and see if it smooths out. I already have its big brother on order (CUD2SL), so I hope to become a satisfied two-Cuda lefty. If not, I felt sure that Camillus would take another crack at it. best - Lee

Thanks to all. After a good hosing with WD-40 and about 500 cycles, it is operating quite well now. Only problem, my wife says I'm not allowed in the TV room anyomre. "Click, click, click - get outa here wi-dat, yer makin' the dog nervous." - Lee
