Hi all,

I'm just planing to buy a CUDA EDC (154CM) recently, but I found a D2 Version of CUDA EDC on A.G. Russell's web site. Does anybody give me some advices about these two versions? Is the D2 version really worth that price?

Thanks.

Thank you for your information.

I have another question about the blade. Both 154CM and D2 can be hardened to 60RC, at least documented so. What's the other different between 154CM and D2 if both of them are hardened to 60RC on the Rockwell scale?

That is a good question. The answer is that there is more to the issue than hardness, the properties of the steels transcend it. For instance, D2 hardened to 60 rc will not be as tough as 5160 at the same hardness. Neither of them will be as corrosion resistant as 440A at 60rc. For this size blade, D2 is an appropriate steel. Great toughness is not needed, corrosion resistance is still close to the stainless steels, and it will hold an edge a little better than 154cm. The truth is, however, that both steels will work fine. If you are willing to pay the difference to have a little better edgeholding, or if you aren't, you'll have a nice little folder.
