I have been thinking of buying a folder.I am into fixed blades and never really trusted folders.I like my fingers! How does this knife hold up?Solid lock up,whack test, play in the blade?I will use this knife for everyday chores/self defense. So has anyone put this knife throug the ringer yet?If so whats your skinny on it?Thanks,B.

Ive had one for a year or so, i dont abuse knives, but it stays real sharp, the blade is centered in handle, lock up is perfect, & makes a great self defense knife. it is surprisingly comfortable to carry even though its big, theres no blade play or wobble. very well made out of top quality materials.i would recommend it highly.

Anthony Lombardo has thoroughly beaten a Maxx up and came away very pleased. There might be a review of it here.

I have several Maxx, bot the the CUDA and the custom. This is my favorite knife. Being a frame lock and one that darrel Ralph has engineered, it will be unlikely that the lock would fail. In fact, this frame lock is one of the strongest locks going. Also, being a frame lock, the tighter you grip the knife, the more pressure on the lock to stay locked. I have never had a Maxx fail a spine whack test. I have owned about 12 different ones and have 8 in my pocession now. As far a s daya to day chores, you have a nice bowie blade as the first option made from airdi D2. This stuff is excellent for blades. It takes a wicked edge and holds it quite well. Some people have complained about sharpening their knives, but I have had no problems what so ever. I use an Edge Pro and it will put any level of sharp on the knife you want. For SD, it is a good knife. It gives you a 5.5" blade if you choke up on the handle. If you grip towards the rear you can extend your reach by 2". The grip lends itself to sabre grip, hammer grip and works well in reverse grip. I have found it to be a lively knife that is well balanced and allows you to flow through cuts slashes and thrusts easily. It is great on snap cuts. The Maxx carries very well and fells like a smaller folder when in the pocket. It comes in tip down, but can be easily converted to tip up if you so desire. That is against Camillus recomendations for safety.

I would suggest this knife to anyone. I doubt you will be disappointed.

I really love my CUDA MAXX 5.5, so much so that I have had a CUDA MAXX 7" version on order since last July. I keep watching this Forum in the hopes that I'll see an announcement about its production run. They were originally to make but 500 in a special run.

In any case, I have found the 5.5 to be comfortable to carry, very effective in utility use, and only moderately scary to non-knife people if openned with some care. Of course, those who dislike knives will panic at the sight of it and most non-knife people would panic if you flip it open. It is a very nice knife for those who understand it, however, as it will do almost any task that you could reasonably ask of it. I have even choked up on it to do fine detail work. It takes some care to do so, but it does work. :)
