Had my Maxx for a couple of months and I nearly worship it. Carried it everyday until I hung the pocket clip on a bicycle grip as I tried to slide past the bike. Sprung the clip and it cracked at one of the screw holes. So, here's the question...should I go back to original or go semi-custom with the clip mounted on the other end to allow tip-up carry? I've tried just letting it ride in the pocket but it slips around just a wee bit much. This is the sweetest large working folder, pretty too, in a 'girl next door'kinda way. Mark

I wouldn't carry the maxx in tip-up if someone paid me...just too much of a chance with the flipper/gaurd of accidently opening.

Steve

Well, regardless of tip up or down, I would be very leery of putting a screw back into a cracked Titanium handle. Maybe it’s time to ship it back to the factory and see if it can be fixed (maybe under warranty) or if it needs replaced.

Personally I like a tip up knife. But that’s just me and if you have any fears of such disregard the following.

I don’t know if you have tried it, but the flipper/guards on the blade act just like the Wave feature on a Emerson Commander and will open the knife as you draw it out of the pocket from the tip up position. You can also find this undocumented feature on the Cold Steel Ti-Lite .

I think he meant the clip cracked...titanium wouldn't crack from a little stress like that. Camillus would probably replace the clip for free, but I'm not sure.

If it's just the clip, I probably wouldn't even try for warranty and would probably just call up and order a new one (and maybe a screw or three) and call it a day.

I got the impression because of the consideration of going custom to tip up. That seems like a lot of work and a big step for just a sprung clip.

Yea, it does seem a bit much for just a sprung clip..

Btw I carried one around in my pocket today and didn't have any problems, so I retract that I wouldn't..

Steve
