CUDA Maxx 5.5 stud broke

I flicked open my Maxx 5.5 yesterday, and the blade-stop stud fell off! I thought at first it had come loose, but experimentation revealed that it is stripped. Further examination showed that there was very little thread engagement to begin with, as though the blade was too thick for the stud.

How can I get a replacement, preferably one with longer threads?

I think that's a first... Must have been a manufacturing defect for it to go like that.

Send it in to Camillus with a brief explanation and they will make things right.

Bob, I will follow that route if I cannot get the part to fix it myself. I would rather not wait the 4+ weeks to get my knife back if I can help it. Is there an official representative of Camillus Cutlery on these forums?

The same thing happened to my Maxx.

I called Camillus and they shipped me two replacement studs...no questions asked. Just be sure to use some Loc-Tite on the threads when you put the new stud on.

Thank you ElectricZombie, I will give them a ring after the fourth. Do the studs they sent appear any different that the one that failed?

i have had the studs loosen up on my 2 cammilus maxx's and 1 of my ralph maxx's, its something to watch for imho. loctited them and no other probs though.

perhaps it got loose and then stripped out?

I will watch for this in the future. I would like to think I would have noticed if it was getting loose, but I can't be sure. I am still concerned by how little thread engagement there was, and I doubt it would have happened if there was more.

The ones they sent seem to have a longer threaded section. I think my stud may have been cut too short or either snapped.
