Anyone heard or know the release date for the DLC coated Maxx's? It looks like a great idea to me as the DLC finish looks great and really is a coating that won't wear off and leave an unsightly blade. :D

I heard about a month. I would expect no sooner than late August to early Sept.

Coat the blade! What do you need a super-hard coating on a titanium handle for? Aesthetics, maybe, but not protection.

You can have scratches on a satin finished buffed off. Satin finished really shows off the beauty of the knife. Some of us prefer black or gray handle color to blue. You can get protection with marine tuff cloth or ren wax etc.

Nope, coat the whole thing. Make it a nice deep black. That would so rock.
Everything. Clip, blade, screws, handle. You name it, coat it.

The DLC finish depends on the surface beneath it. A mirror polish will result in a black chrome look, while a satin finish will not be as shiny. The stonewash finish will still show up under the DLC, only it will be darker. This type of finish is similar to the BC finish in that it is sorta transparent.

I'm disapointed. I had hope to have Mr. Ralph (or his son) modify one for left-side carry with a fold-over clip, plus a retro-fit of bronze washers. I was saving my pennies.
