CUDA MAXX locking too tight

If I open my new CUDA MAXX 5.5 - D2 blade with anything except the most gently force, it becomes difficult to close (impossible to do one handed). Is there a way to adjust this?

You've got one awsome knife there. I've had mine for several months now and it was tight and hard to "unlock" when I first got it. I kept opening and closing it working the lock as much as I could and after a few days it smoothed right out. Now it's onehanded all the way. There may be some other way or trick but this worked for me. Good luck and enjoy the MAXX. It still makes me smile every time I take it out of my pocket...:D :D

I'll go along with the advice of giving it some time. Mine was absolutely a two handed operation to close at first, but it now possible to close with just my right hand. I would also attribute it to learning a little bit of technique and hand manipulation that is distinct to this (big) knife.

I have a first production run Maxx and find that
the way i open it has a marked effect on how tight
it locks up. Easy slow open get a lock so tight
that it's almost permenent. Fast slam open get the lock to set just right. Go figure...

I won't swear to it but it has something to do
with the angle of the lock engagement and the
"gripablity" of titanium on a microscopic level.
The surface texture ot the lock face also plays
into the equation. Anyway, While I don't carry
the Maxx I think the locking face will "lap" in
during use making the lock easier to use without
losing that all important grip.

Mine was a bear for the first few days that I had it, but repeated use smoothed the action very quickly. I noticed that machining marks on the tang surface where the frame-lock fits to lock the blade open were more noticeable on the knife when it was brand new and have been becoming very much less noticeable with use, so I suspect that it was thse that caused the lock to be so dificult at first.

As has been mentioned by everyone before me, my Maxx was that same way when it first arrived. It did smooth out with some time and lots of manipulation. I also found a trick to unlock it early on that keeps the knife one handed. Once the knife is locked open. With the knife held edge down, place your index and middle fingers into the opening of the knife against the lock bar and press the bar aside using these couple of fingers, then use your thumb to start the knife closing. Then you can rub the back of the blade against your leg to finish the close or regrip and close normally. This works great and will take the pain out of the Maxx until it breaks in. I still sometimes close mine this way depending on how I am holding the knife when completing a project. Good Luck and stick with it!:D

After a couple of weeks of playing with it (no serious usage), my CUDA MAXX has worked in nicely. No problems opening or closing it. I think the anodize needed to wear off the Titanium in the small area where the surfaces contact. It's working great.

thanks for the encouragement to "work it out".

I have a different problem. Just got one in trade...outstanding...but the locking portion of the frame is just barely engaging. Id like it to cover at least 1/3 or 1/2 the tang. Any suggestions?

E-mail Camillus Customer Service... they'll probably fix it for free (or maybe just shipping)...

I was really hoping not to part with it. Anybody know of any tweaking or adjustment? Will it change position with use?
