I'm one of those fella's that likes to tinker with his knives. I've disassembled the Cuda MAXX a couple of times to polish the inside of the frames, pivot, and blade flat. I used a little of the CRK flourinated lube when I reassembled and then tightened it down to my liking. Must say it helped as the blade still glides open and I have got it TIGHT!:)

Another thing I started doing was to use Mothers Polish on the blade. I didn't really care for the stonewash/galvanized look of the blade. Especially when coupled with the multi-hued titanium frame. I've done this in the past on a couple of Microtechs that had the stonewash finish and ended up with a semi mirror polished blade, even looked a little metal flakish when I finished!

On the MAXX I've been polishing for about a week. I generally polish it 4 to 5 times a day. What I've got so far is a near mirror finish that really catches the light when opening. I mean that 5.5" blade looks like a snake in mid strike as it is opening!:D I figure I will continue to polish it for a couple more weeks just to see how far I can take it. In certain light there is still a slight haze but I think it will soon be gone.

I wish I could post pics, and will if I can get my son toshow me how! Its just getting him to show me how that is holding things up:(

BTW.......I've used Simichrome, Flitz, and Metal Glo polishes but nothing, and I mean NOTHING works as well as Mother's. I get it at Wal-Mart back in the automotive section.

artsig1, how does the near mirror finish hold up to your EDC cutting chores? My concern is how scratches would show up on the NMF vs the factory finish. I've always wanted to try the Mother treatment and maybe you've convinced me to give it a try.

So far cardboard and tape are the extent of my cutting. Since the tape gums up my blade I generally polish it after cutting. So far it hasn't affected the finish any. Course, as much as I am polishing it, it shouldn't affect it!:) As I said, it really gives a different look, especially with such a huge blade.

Thanks artsig1. I kinda like the factory finish on the Maxx and will probably keep it that way. However, I'd like to try polishing up some other (sissy) knives in my collection.

Btw, after numerous openings/closings, the Maxx--with its large and heavy blade--now opens really nice. Press the flipper and throw the frisbee.
