Looking on e-Bay latyely, I have seen Darral Ralph designed, Camillus Cuda Maxx folding daggers offered in what appears to be mint, NIB ast over a grand. Now I am seeing what looks to be the same knife offered in the same NIB condition, but with a very different looking box . . .for a couple hundred less. I am aware that Camilus produced this model under license from DR, and that Camillus has been closed for some years now. . . and That Mr. Ralph has passed.

Anyone know what is going on in this niche of the collectable knife market?

I see what you mean (perhaps these are the knives/boxes you're referring to. I thought I'd post them to illustrate, and in case anyone can explain the different boxes).

The Cuda Maxx stiletto was always a knife that interested me, but I've never seen any copies or counterfeits. As far as the difference between boxes and prices, it could be some boxes are original, and some were replaced with boxes from other Cuda knives because the seller knows a knife with a box might be more desirable. Or, mabe Camillus simply used different boxes at different times.

As for the difference in prices, there could be several reasons. A lower price might simply indicate a greater eagerness to sell.

And here's this, how to spot a counterfeit from Camillus- https://www.camillusknives.com/support/camillus-counterfeit-information.html

I can't speak to the difference in boxes; but significant variance in prices for something like this isn't all that unusual - you've got the profit seekers holding out for max return vs the people that want/need a quick sale.
Some of the differences could also be related to blade size (I believe there were at least two sizes) and steel (D2 vs talonite)

Yes, that is what I am stalking about. I bought one for our USMC son when they were introduced back in 2002 or so for $125.. I have kept watching them on e-Bay for years now and this is the first time I have seen an orange/red box. There now seem to be a large number of NIB examples complete with all the packaging available at about a grand.
