Man! if I couldn't have my 1911 with me this knife, this big fast deploying cuda Maxx might just might be the answer for some serious social conflect intervention! This big guy sit's low and very unobtrusivly in your pocket never giving away it's size, and it weigh's almost nothing. Also, with a little practice you can draw and flick the 5.5" blade out in a heart beat, lo and behold you have some serious steel in your hand which might give pause to anyone with suspect actions in mind a second thought about acting on them.... giving you the option of just hauling your butt out of dodge so to say. Anyway I have been EDC mine for about 3 months [ along with the 1911, after all it still is a knife] and have been very comfortable with it about me. I have never had a second glance about it, whatcha think? Be safe, MJMcdowell.

The Cuda Maxx has finally given my Sebbie alittle break from being the constnat EDC, as the Cuda Maxx just begs to be carrried. It is amazing how big it is, yet it rides low and weighs so little.

Stop, you're tourturing me. For weeks I've been deciding which to buy first: A Cuda Maxx or some kind of khukuri (I'll buy both, but I dunno which I'll buy first). I finally found the perfect khukuri and decided to buy it when you had to come along and make me think about how great the Cuda Maxx is. :p

The Maxx is huge but it is very light and also fun to flick open!

I love my Cuda Maxx,it is so light I almost forget it's there. One of my favs for EDC.

I'm going to put on my flame resistant suit for his one, but I get concerned, when I read about peoples idea that brandishing a large blade will deter a conflict. Having lived and worked in some of the not so nice areas of NYC, I've seen more than one incident that contradicts that belief. I've seen more than one incident where either a pistol or knife was pulled and the other guy got more beligerent and was even less willing to back down due to "street rep". There are too many possible situations to even try to speculate what can happen in a serious confrontation, but I live by the belief that if you pull out a weapon, you better use it. Flame on.

I'm sure that having to use a knife in selfdefence is a lousy idea but when I get or carry a knife I've thought about how it would be used in self defence. When I'm "really" giving the topic thought I cringe about it. Compared to guns knives give some people the impression that it is somehow less leathal, therefore more likely to get used. It's a now win situation, do to close poximity to the other party someone if not both, is certain to get hurt. When I worked in the trauma center we (blood bank techs) would cringe when we got a protocol involving a "knife wound". Knife wound to the chest or neck is really bad. It can be a fleamarket knife too.

That said I still play at home in front of the mirror and say my silly little things. I feel I'm getting my moneys worth out of something when I'm using it, not only does that mean cutting something, in the case of a knife, but ogleing, cleaning, thinking about all factor in there. Good thing too cause I just got a kershaw rainbow leek and really doubt I'm going to use it like I planned.

I think the original CUDA Maxx is a great kitchen knife. Slices very well and it's big enough to carve with. Cleans out quickly and thoroughly, just blasting water or liquid soap and water through it.

I was born and raised in NYC and lived there most of my life. I also worked and walked through some areas where aggression was counterindicated. A smile can be worth more than a challenge in avoiding trouble. But it never hurts to be ready to defend yourself.

MW740 - I don't think anyone will really take issue with what you said. If you pull it, you better be using it. If the person sees and stops what he is doing, great!

You should never plan your defense around the idea that just the mear sight of your weapon will deter a criminal. It is reckless and foolhardy. At the same time, if you can work into your defense a tool that might have a deterant effect from it's shape or size, why not? That should be a secondary consideration.

In general, I follow the same thought with knives for SD as I do with guns, carry the largest you can handle with skill. And that fall within the laws that apply to your area. :D Don't want to forget that!

Yes, they are sweet! The DDR Madd Maxx has moved up to my favorite folder. If we can talk Camillus into using the thicker Ti, as they did on the first run, the CUDA Maxx would be may favorite production folder. Right now, it is #2 behind the BM800 AFCK.

its an impressive looking knife, personally the CUDA devastator has it on looks for me, that is one sweet looking knife if i didnt live in such a dumb contry i would have one pre ordered now
