Cuda MAXX ! This is modified from a post on European community because I just wanted to share my deep joy about this knife...

I'd said I was going to buy a Cuda Maxx to celebrate some lost in the post flashlights turning up.

It arrived, thanks to John from Cumberland Knives. I gave $109.95 + $10.00 shipping. (That's about £76.00 compared with about £168.00 from British Knife Collectors Guild - knives are expensive here.) I didn't end up with any duty.

The knife is awesome. It comes with a diddy zip up case - and when you see that you go "hmm. Looks big."

The knife - closed - sticks out from my hand about an inch either side. A crack from the closed knife would probably hurt.

It has a little guard, which protrudes a little from the knife which can help you "flik" it open, and a "thumbstud" which is actually an endstop. It opens *very* fast, and it is astonishingly large. My wife said "Dear G*d, what do you need a knife like that for?" I'm used to a BM710, so I'm not a PC 2.5" blade guy... Heavens, this knife is *big*.

It's a frame lock - like the Cuda EDC, K.I.S.S, and - I'm told - a Sebenza. The handle is titanium, a pretty grey blue, and the lock feels very solid. I guess that's because of the Titanium. [FWIW, some people have complained that you can't close this knife one-handed. I don't have a terribly strong thumb(but I'm a big guy) but I can close it readily. You just have to be careful of the blade. Have I mentioned that it is a huge blade?] The knife is a only a whisker off shaving sharp, and while I'd admit the modified Bowie shape blade isn't my favourite, I'm very pleased with it so far.

Where the hell will I carry it? It really is frighteningly large. Incidentally, the deep clip (which hides it in a deep pocket pretty well) is for tip down carry. Drop the knife in your pocket for tip-up, and you can open it against the pocket with the guard, a bit like the Wave on Emersons, I'd imagine. Effectively pulling a foot long bowie out of a jeans pocket looks really scary [and I was only watching in a mirror]. I really wouldn't recommend doing that anywhere a non knife nut could see you.

ALl I have to do now is find someone to share this with :)

All that said, I'm very impressed with the knife, the delivery, and the price. Hope that was of some interest. Saving £90+ was a good start...

Sounds like a great blade. Is that legal to own over there? Could you take it camping/hiking?

Legal to own, sure.

You need to have "good reason" to carry it.
[and the LEOs and the law look a bit askance at locking blades]
Camping you might get away with.

Still a beautiful knife though...
