CUDA Quick Action folders

My most loved knife is my CUDA Quick Action with plain spearpoint blade. The quick action opening mechanism is the fastest and most effective in the knife world, short of a real auto.

Although this is one awesome knife, I have the feeling that its not doing well in the marketplace. If this is so, I have some suggestions that might help. I would really hate to see this great knife discontinued!

Thanks for your quick response.

My suggestions are:

1. Offer more aggressive blade styles similar to the Benchmade AFCK, the SOG Pentagon Elite, a smaller version of the REKAT SIFU, or other aggressive looking blades.

2. Offer the CUDA in longer blade lengths. I would love to see a CUDA Quick Action with a 5 inch of 5.5 inch blade.

3. Dress it up. Use G10 in different colors, etc.

4. Market these great knives more aggressively. Knife buyers are like everyone else in that something different such as the Quick Action mechanism must be put in front of them many times before they will try it.

I hope some of these suggestions are of some use.

Sincerely,
Chuck

Chuck - very good suggestions. I especially like the idea of colored G-10. There's lots of folks out there who don't like black/getting tired of all black knives and this would be a great idea. I'd also like to add that if Camillus were to improve the CUDA Quik-Action folders, I'd like to see thicker liners used. This will make the handle more rigid and it certainly can't hurt the quality of the lock.

Thicker liners is an excellent idea. Another good idea would be to use a frame lock design like the one used on the new CUDA MAXX 5.5.

I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but I recently bought a skeletenized Jaguar brand folder that has a frame lock. This cheap ($10.00) junk knife has a stronger jock than most other folders on the market, no matter what the price. If Jaguar can afford to use a frame lock it seems like Camillus could too.

What do you think?

A frame lock for a working folder like the Quik-Action is a good idea. However, due to the characteristics of a frame lock, the lock bar will exert more sideways pressure on the blade tang than a regular liner lock. With that being said, the blade action of a frame lock Quik-Action would be a bit stiffer than the present version. Hence, more force is required to push the thumb disk through its opening track. Plus, Camillus already has a frame lock in their CUDA line with the EDC folder.

Dexter.

Thanks for that info. Thicker liners with the resultant stronger liner lock is a better idea than a frame lock for these knives. It is very important that the opening action be as easy as possible. Potential buyers that are skeptical about the Quik-Action mechanism would reject it in droves if the action were difficult to operate.

I very much hope that I am wrong about sales of this GREAT knife. I have handled folders from about all the knife companies and own quite a few of them. The Quik-Action mechanism makes the CUDA the fastest and best of the bunch.

I had a damascus spear point, but I traded it off. The knife was a very good EDC. However, if I had one complaint it was that the liner was way too thin. I would like to see a thicker liner. I think that different colored g-10 would be an excellent idea (love to see green or blue) Since I usually carry one of several SIFU's I think that a larger blade say 5 inches would be nice for the "mega folder" crowd. Camillus is on to something with the Maxx, but a larger CUDA could be another large model to offer with a different opening style.

How about a better selection of styles for us leftys? If you can make 1 or 2 lefty models, why not a few more?
