The CUDA Quick-Action knives seem to get minimal attention, but are sure worthy of mention. I was rather bummed out when I learned that they had recently been discontinued. The good news it that since they are now a discontinued item, there are several vendors that are offering them at a reduced price.

When I received my fist one, a CUDA 2S, I was somewhat skeptical of the unusual opening mechanism. It was different and just a tad stiff. After applying a good quality lube and cycling through the opening/closing motion a few hundred times, it is now fast and smooth. The second one I purchased, a CUDA 22, was the same. Even though the literature indicates ATS-34 blade steel is used, the most current ones have 154CM. Both blades are rather sharp, but the edges could have been finished a bit better. Lockup is solid. The G10 handles have a fine-checkered pattern and have a nice grip to them.

How do other folks feel about these? If anyone is interested in pics, I can take some and post later.

The Cuda Quick Action is also one of my favorites. I have one of the first ATS-34 blades, as well as a Cuda Claw. I bent the opening button on my first bowie-style cutting the head off of a snapping turtle, but I bent it back with a pair of pliers and it is still working well with no stiffness or drag.

eric,
Yes, unfortunately the CUDA QUIK ACTION series are being discountinued. They were originally made with ATS34 blade steel, but as 154CM became availible in sizes that we could use easily in the manufacturing process, we did switch to 154CM, which is the domestically produced equilivant of ATS34. The only difference between the 2 steels is the etch on the blade and where is was made;)

I'm glad that you like your knife.....it will provide you good service for many years.

Eric,
I too have a soft spot for this blade and have been carring an older mod for a few years, I have one spare but would like to pick up a few more since the are on there way out.I have only seen one deal but it was for dealers only, if you have a link to any other deal's that would be great. TIA

I also love these knives. When I first got back into knives, Camillus was the obvious choice since I am a Syracuse native. I liked the looks of the Quick action folders but was unsure of them until I got to play with them in person at the Syracuse gun show. I now own two, I have lost one, and I bought and reconditioned a factory second that my GF has laid claim to.

Some places on the web have been blowing these out at $59.99 so I might just get one more for the heck of it.

When I learned that they had been discontinued I was bummed because the Maxx and aftermath are way too big to be practical for me. The Dominator is a worthy successor I think. With the popularity of the Kershaw Ken Onion knives, I am glad to see Camillus keeping pace. The Dominator is perfect with the right size for a serious defense knife and the gee whiz factor with the robo feature. It might be the only thing that can get my CUDA 2S out of my pocket eveyday (Microtech and CRKT M16 have failed to do that, they are destined to live on my dresser.)

Oh I wanted to add that you guys might try CR Specialties for web orders. Their prices are inline and the store is run by two Camillus employees. They are great people and have the connections to help you out as well.

I have the full size and the mini - both left-handed. My full size is the only lefty I have ever seen that is not a combo blade. It is a plain blade knife, even though the box said it was a combo. Way cool - Lee

Hmmmm.....I bought one of the "first production"
models of this knife back when as collector piece.
Interesting knife but the Ats-34 steel :barf: &
the right hand button kept it in the display case.

Stout knife ,but not lefty friendly. :(
