Did our annual CA Sequoia NF trip last weekend and had an opportunity to play with new gear. I think as I'm getting older (and older and older) my gear choices are becoming more reasoned. I'd take this trio to hell and back (assuming hell is at short to medium range).

Scenery first...beautiful sunsets.

Culberson Hudson Bay in 52100 and African Blackwood, with Ruger SP101. Great knife, does everything I want plus from light chopping to food prep. I have more than a few of Bruce's work and although it's a tough call I'm calling this the best and most versatile to date. Totally dig the 357, although I need to toughen up my girly hands for extended shooting...or change out the grip.

mmmm...shoulder hurting goodness. Haven't touched a shotgun in 20+ years, and what a fool because this was just good fun.

I love shooting shotguns.. one of the pleasures of life.

The first picture reminds me of a picture I took last winter. I will have to try and find it.

As for the Culberson, I want one. That's pretty much how I feel about that ;)

Your mossy reminds me of my 20"bbl Remington with rifle sites, I wish I had the ghost rings though.
One upgrade you should look into is the Hogue foregrip, it's incredible, especially compared to the corncob foregrip on the mossys. I find on hot days your hands can slip on them pretty easy.
I am sure they make grips for that fine pistol you have there as well. ( oh yeah, and a limbsaver buttpad is a pretty nice addition too ;))

I have tested several of Bruce's Knives

ALL WERE OUTSTANDING!!!

Your Hudson Bay looks SWEET!!!!!

I have an sp101, bought it to replace my POS taurus and never looked back. Also have a GP100. I used to have a stainless Blackhawk in .45 colt but I couldn't afford to keep it fed. I'll replace it with a super blackhawk someday.

Also have a Mossberg 500, but I need to get me a 590 like yours and a 930 with GRS.

I really couldn't be more pleased with the SP101.

Had a chance to abuse the knife over the weekend with yard work. Great for light chopping. Bruce put some subdued curve in the African Blackwood that translate to real comfort. Tried to capture the scales in pics below. mmmm...copper pins.

Great looking trio.
I am in the market for a .357 about that size right now. Will have to take a better look.

Keep in mind the SP101 is the bulkiest, heaviest 5-shot .357 snub on the market. If that doesn't bother you then get it for sure. I'd like to get a .357 LCR to compliment it but I despise the internal locks.

The SP101 and the LCR are very different revolvers. The LCR truely is a snub nose (under 3"), light weight, and concealable. I can't imagine that it would be fun to shoot in 357. You can find many revolvers with a 3" barrel that are heavier than the SP101, like the GP100 or the Taurus Model 617. The S&W model 60 is similar to the SP101, a few ounces lighter, is slightly more polished...and quite a few more $. My preference would be to have one of each, and once I hit that lotto I'm going to make that real!

Thanks for the heads up. However, I am 6'4" and just short of 330 pounds, I don't think the weight will matter.
I think I might be able to hide it under my shirt.
I EDC a 3.75" fixed blade neck knife.

I had and LOVED a 3" model 65 S&W Round butt in .357. 6 shot and not light but after bobbing the hammer, it fit nicely in the back pocket of my Levis.

Nice carrying steel you have there.

Ruger SP101 is a great trail (& city) companion. It is my constant companion. Great range gun too. It is light enough to carry & heavy enough to shoot .357 Mag loads. As you can see I have replaced the grips with the wood hogues which fit my hand much better than the smallish OEM ones. I like my finger below, not behind the trigger guard and change the grips on all of my revolvers to this grip style. The only other mod I might consider is the lighter wolf spring kit.

the SP101 was my favorite packing .357 for years until I found this 3" J-frame. the 60 Pro Series... adjustable sights with a trijicon front. the factory grips are real pretty but the exposed backstrap made extended shooting sessions a bit painful so I replaced them with some Pachmayer grips and this revolver quickly became my daily carry.

Nice Hudson Bay knife. I have one of Bruce's knives and love it. I need more. As for the Ruger SP 101 I carried one for years as my back up in an ankle holster for it the SHTF. It took a little getting used to but the extra comfort of that backing up my primary 45 ACP was comforting!!!!
