Hi,

After getting this trapper from Mike Alsdorf I'm starting to see the beauty of jigged bone.

I was wondering if you guys turn me on to some other patterns that are available by Culpepper (or other vendors that sell bone).

Could you please post a photo of the knife and the pattern name / color.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks,
Dave

This the Amber "Shetland Jig" from Culpepper. And it looks great in person.

Dave, I have always been partial to the carved stag bone patterns. Here are a few I believe are supplied by Culpepper.

Nice one Big Dave:thumbup: Mike was telling me about that one the other day. Wow, it looks nice!

It's a sweet knife and only 1.5 oz. Glad you like it. The bone done up in the shadow is very attractive.

Thank you Rick. I was very curious about that one...the bone and the knife are beautiful.

does gec make their own jiggins and colouring or do they buy it from culpeppers?

My understanding is that in the first few years GEC got their bone from Culpeppers, but that now they do some (if not all) of their own bone.

Correct, probably into 2008 they transitioned from outside to inside bone. Some bone from the outside can still be seen on SFO's or contract knives; but for the most part GEC starts with 50 gallon drums of leg bones on current production knives.
